Corry High School Class of 1955: Celebrating 70 Years of Legacy and Tradition

Thu. Apr. 3

This year marks a momentous occasion for the Corry High School Class of 1955, as they celebrate their 70th class reunion. This group of distinguished alumni holds a special place in Corry’s history—not only for their achievements but also for being the first class to graduate from the East Pleasant Street location of Corry High School. Their journey was chronicled in their yearbook with the fitting theme, "The Building of a School," where each section was named for a part of the construction process, symbolizing their foundational role in the school's legacy.

The Class of 1955 was filled with remarkable individuals who made lasting contributions to their community and beyond. Among them was Rosalind Rhodes Small, known for her dedication and contributions to the Corry community. Gerald Lloyd went on to become a respected local doctor, providing years of service and care to families in the area. Another distinguished alumna, Margaret "Peg" Drobneck Elchynski, left her mark through her involvement and dedication to preserving the spirit of Corry.

Guiding the students through their high school years was Principal Howard Sheen, a respected educator whose commitment to Corry High School left a lasting impression. His leadership and influence were later honored when the school’s football field was named after him—a fitting tribute to a man who helped shape the lives of so many students.

As the Class of 1955 gathers once more to celebrate this milestone, they not only reflect on their own journeys but also on the enduring legacy they have built within the Corry community. Their story continues to inspire future generations of Corry High School students, reminding them that they, too, are part of a rich history—one that began with the strong foundation laid by those who came before them.

Congratulations to the Corry High School Class of 1955 on 70 years of memories, achievements, and lifelong friendships. Your legacy stands strong, just like the school you helped build.
