Corry Wrestling Seniors Represent a Long Line of Corry Athletes

Last week, Corry Wrestling recognized nine seniors, including wrestlers Kael Albers, Will Allen, Isaiah Bayle, Lewis “Roo” Hellyer, Cody Proper and Mason Savitz; statistician, Nolan Carey; manager, Kenny Fink; and cheerleader, Sarah Snyder.
Most of the seniors are multi-generational Corry athletes with parents and grandparents part of our Corry High School alumni.
Hellyer is a third-generation Corry wrestler with his dad, Lewis Hellyer, a Class of 1996 wrestler and baseball player, and grandfather, Lewis “Fid” Hellyer, a Class of 1972 wrestler. His mom, Ashley (Frink) Hellyer, is a Class of 2001 cross-country, track and field and cheerleading athlete. His grandmother Angie (Staskiewicz) Frink, is a Class of 1974 basketball player.
Proper is second generation Corry wrestler with his dad, Travis Proper, a Class of 1996 wrestler. Travis is also the current head wrestling coach.
Albers is a third generation Corry athlete with Class of 1997 parents: mom, Amy (Knapp) Albers, cheerleading and track and field, and dad, Steven Albers, football and track and field. His grandfather, Wesley Knapp, is a Class of 1973 swimmer.
Bayle is also a third generation Corry athlete with mom, Erica (Proctor) Bayle, a Class of 2000 grad, part of the first Corry girls’ soccer team. She also played basketball and competed in track and field. His grandfather, Jim Proctor, is a Class of 1967 wrestler and baseball player.
Carey is our final third generation Corry athlete with mom, Brenda (Beal) Carey, a Class of 1991 basketball and softball player and cheerleader. His grandfather, Emerson Beal, is a Class of 1963 wrestler and basketball player.
