The Class of 2020
Fri. Feb. 28
The year 2020 will forever be remembered as a time of disruption, resilience, and adaptation. For students preparing to graduate, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of that year drastically altered the traditional rites of passage that mark the transition from student to alum. As we reflect on that time, it is important to acknowledge the challenges faced, the ways in which our community adapted, and the lasting impact on those who graduated under such extraordinary circumstances.
A Graduation Unlike Any Other
When the pandemic forced schools to shut down in March 2020, it quickly became clear that the usual graduation celebrations would not take place in their expected form. Traditional in-person commencement ceremonies were canceled or postponed, and Corry scrambled to find ways to honor their graduates in a meaningful manner. Personal ceremonies with only a few people present were set up over the course of several days. Students were able graduate, but it just wasn't the same.
Joining our Alumni Dinners
As we honor the Class of 2020 at this year's alumni dinner, we recognize not only the challenges they faced but also the strength and determination they demonstrated in the face of adversity. Their experience serves as a testament to the power of resilience, and their stories continue to inspire future graduates navigating an ever-changing world. We encourage them to engage in this lasting tradition, even though they were not able attend a graduation ceremony in the traditional manner.
